I certainly have a sweet tooth, but it's nowhere near as sweet as many Japanese people, it seems. While I enjoy my Skittles and MnMs, Twix, eclairs, and donuts, the creation of sweet snacks is truly an art.
Japanese food is as much about presentation as flavor. So while pancakes in America are usually served plain unless you order something special, the concept of plain pancakes is pretty foreign here.My friend and I had these two dishes for dessert at Denny's. Pancakes with syrup are rare, and usually are only thought of as a dessert with lots of fancy toppings. I could go for some pancakes now... but the breakfast variety, of course!
(Yes, Facebook friends, these are the same ones I posted about recently.)
